This years Dragon Lady had a total of 46 competitors from Wi., Il., Mn., & the U.P. of Mi. The 12 gauge event went smooth Saturday morning with 4  100’s.  Jim Decker bailed early in the shootoff, leaving  two of last years state champions, Matt Savolainen and Mike Peterson, and our token old guy Don Kelly.  After a few boxes (or was that a few stations) and the smoke cleared, old shoot’em late Kelly Emerged champion.

The 20 gauge event Saturday included a bit of wind with 5 shooters posting 98’s.  Mike Peterson was warmed up for the shootoff  and won.  Steve Patke and David Ruokolain duked it out for RU. And 3rd.

Mike Peterson walked a 98 to win the doubles event   Boring!

Sunday mornings 28 gauge event turned soggy—especially for the first rotation out on their 3rd. box, when a downpour soaked shooters and their guns.  Two 100’s were shot, with David Roulolain taking champion, and Joe Vancura RU.

The rain went away Sunday afternoon for the .410 event, to be replaced by white puffy clouds and some nice wind gusts. Two teammates Phil Plesetz and Jim Decker didn’t mind the wind and shot 97’s. Jim who claimed  he carried  Phil in the 2 man team events let Phil win and settled for RU.

Jim Decker was consistent all weekend  and rewarded by winning the HOA with a 392.  Mike Peterson, one bird back was the HOA RU.

Thanks to Elise Duwe for managing all the computer work,  Judy Decker for Saturday nights dinner, our referees – especially the shooters who volunteered to referee when we were short, target loaders and all other volunteers who made the Dragon Lady possible!
